WHY DO WE NEED YOUR HELP

This organization started its activities in Ghana in 2012 and was finally incorporated in the State of Virginia in 2020, and IRS 501c(3) status the same year. Sometimes external donors help the organization to run its day-to-day activities. However, we have found out that there has not been enough influx of monetary aid from donors to support our mission. Due to this, the organization is expanding its farming activities in Ghana to generate income to help community members and create jobs for the widows. Farming products will be shipped from Ghana to the US to help members in this country. The organization has also secured plots of land in Ghana for all African American widows who want to build houses and relocate to Ghana.

The beneficiaries are seniors over 65, widows with children under 16 years of age, and children below 16 years with cancer. We help them register for health insurance and pay the health insurance provider directly to cover their financial costs. Eligibility: Applicants apply for assistance via the website (must be a member via membership form - no cost). There is a preliminary interview completed with a board member to solidify candidacy. The applicant is required to display medical bills and/or financial needs. Costs may not be paid in full. We want to stick to providing costs up to $5,000 per year per client, helping 10 students per year for now.

We provide school supplies for widowed children who complete the claim benefit form for school supplies. There is a preliminary interview completed with a board member to solidify candidacy. We ship school supplies to individuals. The giving cycle for school supplies is May through August. We want to provide costs up to $35 per child per year, helping 300 students per year throughout the United States. We also have a scholarship program that commenced in August 2021. The eligibility requirements for the scholarship is an essay expressing needs and having been already accepted into a community college. The Board of directors assesses applications and chooses recipients. The amount for the scholarship will be $3k per year for community college, helping 10 students per year. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Our farming project activities are currently going on in Ghana. We started our farming activities in January 2021. We have 150 acres of farmland and we are planting crops such as cashew and mango. We were able to plant 60 acres of the crops, 30 cashews, and 30 mangoes in the 2021 farming year. We have targeted another 60 acres in the 2022 farming season. The aim of this project is to raise enough money in the near future to help our members without relying so much on donors.

Dear Donors and Friends,

The COVID-19 has impacted most women and their children, especially those who have recently lost their husbands because of the pandemic. Your support for these widows will comfort them from the catastrophe that had happened to them. Please, support our widows.
